Marshall Sounds of Summer Events are set to go.  Entertainment and fun for everyone.  Check out the schedule to find out more about parades, food events, theatre and of course, MUSIC!!

 

On Going Events:  

  • Robert Schwan Memorial Young People’s Photography Competition and Exhibit (17 and under). Register at MAFAC Arts Center. Exhibit opens at 1:00 p.m. August 5th. Awards presentation is at 6:00 p.m. Thursday August 18th  
  • Photo competition – check out the “New Marshall”


Thursday August 18th

All events at Schwan parking lots behind the Bistro unless noted otherwise

  • United Way – “Success By 6”  5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Children’s Favorite Books being read by members of the community.

  • MAFAC’sArt in the Parking Lot – Various artists displays their work. Come and enjoy our vendors from 4:00 p.m. - till 8:00 p.m. Visit mafac.net for more details

  • MAFAC Great American Hot Dog Feed — featuring gourmet dogs, chips and beverage. Starts at 5:00 p.m. Tickets available at Hy-Vee and MAFAC office.

  • Rib fest – ribs donated by Hitching Post – 5:00pm – only 350- tickets- available at Hy-Vee, County Fair, Marshall Radio and Marshall Chamber

  • Cold Stone Creamery – Root Beer Floats/ Ice Cream –  5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

  • Enjoy the sounds of music in the parking lot — Entertainment by Marshall Highschool Show Choir and others starts at 5:00 p.m.

  • Just For Kids — Inflatables, face painting, sidewalk chalk

  • Landmark Bistro – Specials – Landmark Bistro - 15% off all burgers, plus specials on boneless wings with out of this world drink specials

Friday August 20th.

  • SMSU Smokefest

  • Mustang Trail Street Dance — Featuring "Good for Gary"  5:00pm - 12:00am - BBQ gates open (food, beverage garden, music)

    • Mustang Boosters Club Fall Kick-Off 6:00pm
    • SMSU Football Scrimmage 6:30 - 7:30pm
    • Music 9:00pm - 12:00am
    • Inflatables
  • Kids Vehicle Fair – YMCA/Marshall Fire Department – 12-3pm - Schwan’s Ice Cream treats kids

  • Sidewalk Chalk – YMCA – decorates sidewalks adjacent to YMCA and Marshall Fire Station

  • MASC’s – Shakespeare in the Park – “Macbeth” – 7:00 p.m. – Liberty Park

  • Landmark Bistro – “Hawaiian luau on the Patio” – Hog Roast and fun drink specials– 5 – 8 pm. DJ and dance starting at 9:00. Hawaiian decorations, limbo contest and prizes all night long.

  • Lyon County Relay for Life – “Feat at the Fairgrounds” 5pm Friday- Survivor Registration – 7:00 p.m.-Opening ceremony

Saturday August 20th

  • Shades of the Past "Poker Run" – Watch the classic cars and trucks drive around Marshall. Prizes will be awarded Saturday evening.

  • 5k “Tiger 5000” – Sponsored by Marshall “M” Club- registration 7:30 a.m.-8:15 a.m. - race at 8:30 a.m.  

  • Boards/Blades Skateboard – Legion Field – Free Admission 1:00pm - 6:00pm

  • Grand Festival Parade – 4pm downtown Marshall

  • Come for a Hot Dog, Chips and Beverage after the Parade - Plus Free Music – 5:00-8:00pm

  • Adult Community Center – 6:00pm  – 7:30 pm – Cletus Goblirsch "Old Time" and Variety accordian music. BBQ, bars, coffee and pop will be served.

  • Come and listen to FREE local musicians from – 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

  • MASC’s – Shakespeare in the Park – “Macbeth” – 7:00 p.m. – Liberty Park

  • FREE OUTDOOR CONCERT bringing back the sounds of the 60’s, 70’s and more, featuring reunion show by ‘The Cavemen” with “Tille and the Time Bombs” – 8pm-12pm Memorial Park - down town Marshall at the corner of East College Drive and Main Street  -- Courtesy of the Bistro - Absolutely no Coolers allowed or brought in. Entertainment provided by Matt Christiansen, Kayla Daniels, Lonny Carpenter and more...

Sunday August 21nd

  • Community Praise Service — 10:00am Liberty Park
  • FREE -Splash Party/Dance – Marshall Fire Dept. – 1 – 3pm Legion Field Aquatic Center.
